The back with champleve translucent enamelled representation of Basillio Il Bulgaroctono, master-piece of Byzantine art, painted in 1019, against chase cloudy ground. Gold cuvette. D. Mat gold dial with, Art-Nouveau Arabic numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds, decorated with a fine champleve painted angel, designed after the original Byzantine, piece of art. Blued steel "cathedrale" hands. M. 16-, gilt brass, 18 jewels in gold screwed settings, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the cuvette and movement. In perfect condition. Diam. 50 mm. This unique watch is illustrated in the Omega catalog, published in 1990, for the retrospective of Omega production (pages 234 and 238). The decoration of this watch, was drawn by the artist from a polychrom painting of an incunable by Kekaumenos in 1019. This was a representation of Basillio Il Bulgaroctono, whose victories allowed Bysance to be restored at the top of his glory after that of Justinien.
