Notes

The present timepiece, Reference W1556209, is a testament to Cartier’s technical prowess and represents a significant achievement in modern watchmaking. Debuted in 2011 in SIHH after over five years of dedicated research and development, this Rotonde de Cartier brings together two grand complications in a stunning, contemporary package.

Crafted from lightweight titanium, the case houses a symphony of micromechanics. The semi-openwork dial offers a glimpse into the intricate heart of the watch, featuring a large aperture between 5 and 7 o’clock that displays the hammers of the minute repeater. At 12 o’clock, the mesmerizing ballet of the flying tourbillon takes center stage.

The titanium construction is not merely an aesthetic choice; it is acoustically engineered to provide the highest gong mass to case mass ratio, ensuring the minute repeater’s chimes resonate with exceptional clarity and purity. This sonorous function is activated via a pusher at 8 o’clock instead of the traditional slider.

Turning the watch over reveals the magnificent in-house manually wound Calibre 9402, finished to the highest standard and bearing the prestigious Geneva Seal (Poinçon de Genève). This watch is a limited edition, with this specific example being number 33 out of a worldwide production of only 50 pieces.

Preserved in excellent condition and offered with its full suite of accessories, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a true masterpiece of technical art from one of the world’s most esteemed houses.
