French, 19th century.Unusual watch holder made of dried mud, like a mound of earth, centered with the watch aperture, a simulated pond of glass in the foreground. A tree on both sides of the mound of earth together with leaves, flowers, stuffed birds, and snail-shells at the bottom of the tree trunk. The whole protected by a glass globe.
