French, 18th century.Wood, tortoiseshell, and engraved copper, mantel watch holder, so-called "Boulle", the front with two hinges on the side which can be opened to place the watch, the top part representing a figure in armor, surrounded by four vases, the whole richly decorated with floral volutes and ornaments in the Louis XIV style.
