German (Augsburg), 18th century.Gilt bronze watch holder, on a tripod pedestal, representing Cronos, the mythological figure of time, with a sand-glass in his hand, the watch aperture fitted with a spring claw, an owl and a cockerel symbolizing night and day, all parts richly decorated with scrolls, floral volutes and ornaments in the rococo style.
