W.G. Herlich, Bremerhaven, No. 536, circa 1870. Very fine 56-hour marine chronometer with power reserve indication and Hartnup auxiliary compensation balance.

C. Brass bound three body mahogany box with external brass handles, brass corners and mountings, glazed upper section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimballed suspension. D. Silvered with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and Up-and-Down scale. Silver "pear" hands. M. Spotted brass full plate, relieved for the barrel, with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain and maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, Hartnup auxiliary compensation balance, diamond end-stone, tree sprung polished steel helical balance spring with terminal curves. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dial diam. 100 mm. Dim. 19 x 17,5 x 17,5 cm.
