Notes

Jean Lurçat Jewel’s for Patek Philippe
This jewel is one of a small number made by Patek Philippe and the famous French artist and designer Jean Lurcat (1892-1966) in the 1960’s.
Lurcat is best known for his revival of the art of tapestry making in the 20th century also often in the surrealist style. He designed only a relatively small number of pieces of jewellery and such pieces are highly sought after.
Today, Lurcat’s brooches, pendants and necklaces signed by Patek Philippe are regarded as works of art in their own right. Gilbert Albert (1930-2014), who was at the time the head of creations for Patek Philippe, approached Jean Lurçat (1892-1966) to create these works of art.
The “Collier Roue” was made in only six examples in 1969 and 1970.
