Notes

While the 1680 Submariner needs no further introduction since its launch in 1969, the red Submariner is a classic Submariner that is now part of most important collectors, While later versions are relatively common, these early examples featuring a meter first dial represent a very small percentage of the total red sub production. Combined with a beautifully aged, incredibly uniform, tropical dial (these were often replaced at Rolex service centers making them even less common), this color-change is only found on mark 2 and 3 dials. This example fitted with its correct smaller punched Chronometer attestation and its original fitted bracelet dated 1971 makes this the ultimate example to own.
