Notes

Universal Compax "Nina Rindt" and "Evil Nina Rindt" The Compax wrist-chronograph, Reference 885 103 / 02, from Universal Geneva is now nicknamed by collectors "Nina Rindt" in tribute to the wife (born in 1943) of Karl Jochen Rindt (1942-1970), German-born racing driver who represents Austria during his career. On September 5, 1970, he accidentally died in the practices of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza and became the only pilot to be posthumously awarded the title of Formula 1 World Champion. This is a black and white photo of Mrs. Rindt in August 1970 which is the origin of this nickname. We see it at the Austrian Grand Prix at Österreichring (August 16) - where Jochem gets the Pole position on his Lotus-Ford but could not start because of technical problems - wearing a Universal Compax with dial white background and black counters, so-called "Panda", reference 885 103 / 02. By opposition, the watch with black background and white counters, reference 885 103 / 01, is nicknamed "Evil Nina Rindt".
