A commemorative medal in gilded metal, made in 1891, struck at the occasion of the 1891 Exposition du Travail (Labour Exhibition) held in Paris; this example rewards one of the members of the Collectivité de Morteau (collective presentation of the watchmakers of Morteau, Doubs), Mr. Ch. Wetzel.

On the obverse, the inscription: “Exposition du Travail / 2eme série / 1891”

On the reverse, the inscription: “Décernée / à / Mr Ch. Wetzel / Collectivité de Morteau / 1891”

The 1891 Exposition du Travail (Labour Exhibition) took place in Paris, on the Champs-Elysées, in the Palais de l’industrie, between 1891 and 1895. The second series (1892) presented, among other things, horology. This event followed the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1889 and continued to present the work of French industry in all its branches to the public.
