Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1890. Extremely rare and fine 18 ct. gold, keyless watch with fly-bac, dead-center seconds beating chronograph.

C. Four body, massive Louis XVI, polished with the monogram "APZ" engraved on the back. Gold glazed cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and Arabic outer minute ring. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 18-, nickel plated, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Dead seconds beating chronograph with visible work, button on the winding crown. The 'scape wheel arbor, carrying a star pinion which engages a pivoted lever carrying a pawl, each escape of a lever, causes the pawl to advance the dead jump seconds chronograph by one tooth. A further pivoted lever, acts as a steady spring, three miniature "spiral balance springs", are used to maintain tension in place of the usual leaf springs. In very good condition. Diam. 53 mm.
