John S. Godman St. Albans, circa 1974 Unusual precision regulator based on Riefler's patent.

C. Cylindrical grey painted steel, annular mottled grey wall bracket, glass dome. D. Circular regulator type, silvered, Arabic numerals, hour dial for 24 hours. M. Brass and steel, plated rectangular, plain pillars; Riefler's double wheel escapement in which impulse is given via the suspension spring which is retensioned by the escapement at each swing of the pendulum; Riefler's remontoire weight drive in which an arm lifted by an electric coil continually resets a rectangular weight which supplies power to the train; invar rod pendulum ( Riefler's 'K' type) with brass weight and bottom adjustment, oscillation in partial vacum created inside the cylinder. Anthony G. Randall, Birmingham, No. 11, made in 1981 from an ebauche, with dial by Joseph White & Son, Coventry, London, makers to the Admiralty. Fine and unique 18 ct. gold, keyless pocket chronometer with six minute tourbillon regulator.

C. Double body, massive, "bassine et filets", polished, marked "M.R.M." (Mathews). D. White enamel with Roman humerais and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "pear" hands. M. Glazed 20"', frosted and gilt, hall plate, 20 jewels in screwed settings, with going barren, pointed-tooth lateral lever escapement, including the fourth wheel to reduce the speed of rotation from the more conventional one minute period, two-arm compensation balance with gold timing screws, free sprung balance spring with terminal crave. Six minute tourbillon regulator with Randall gilt brass carriage, diamond endstone. Signed on the back plate. In excellent condition. Diam. 58 mm.

Not signed, circa 1989. Fine and unusual, gilt-brass, year going, skeleton world time clock with perpetual calendar and chronometer escapement.

C. Framed in the shape of a stylised A, on rectangular moulded base and with glazed gilt brass shade with radiused top. D. Silvered regulator dial with apertures for date, day of week, month and year. Subsidiary world-time, 24 hour, revolving silvered dial Roman chapter below, showing the time in 72 cities. Blued steel "pear" hands. M. With four going barrels wound individually, Earnshaw type spring-detent escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, helical balance spring with terminal curves. In excellent condition. Dim. 46 x 34 x 21 cm.
