Unsigned, Geneva, circa 1830. "Entre les deux mon coeur balance" Fine and rare 18K gold and enamel musical pendant with automaton scene, designed as a watch key.

C. Oval, surmounted by the figures of Venus and Adonis, seated back to back, the reverse with azure and red enamelled border, chased with foliage and centred with a bouquet of summer flowers over an azure ground. The enamel automaton scene features a landscape with a waterfall, applied with varicoloured gold figures of a boy and a girl standing on a seesaw designed as the bow of Cupid, at the base of a pedestal surmounted by a cherub playing the lyre at unison. M. Brass oval with a pin disk and two facing sets of six teeth. Dim. 54 x 32 mm.

C. Three body, Empire with split-pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, the band with champlevc enamelled decoration, the back enamel panel painted with a very fine composition of Summer flowers over a grey ground. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minute and seconds ring. Gold Breguet hands. Disclosed by the spring-loaded back, the varicoloured gold automaton scene of a sitting man, playing the lyre and a seating lady in classical dresses, playing mandolin applied over a finely painted enamel park, a large fountain on the left. M. 18'", gilt brass double train with free standing barrels, inverted cylinder escapement with plain brass three-arm balance and flat balance spring. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Pin-disc musical train with 17 vibrating steel teeth on either side of the disc. Diam. 52 mm.

C. Double body, Directoire, polished, with fixed bezel and spring loaded back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. Small eccentric white enamel with Breguet numerals. Gold "spade" hands. The enamel dial plate with champleve garlands of flowers on each side of the dial over a black ground is also painted with a Swiss landscape below the dial and applied with a very fine varicoloured gold automaton scene, depicting three cherubs busily working in a forge: one is forging weapons for Venus while another sharps the arrows and the third keeps the fire going in the forge. M. Gilt brass double train, Lepine calibre with free standing barrel, the bridges engraved with foliage decoration, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. The automaton train built from a typical Lepine repeating train with cams in place of repeating work and wound with a key. Diam. 51 mm.

C. Two body, entirely made of tortoiseshell with hinged back panel for the key compartment, the top corners inlaid with silver, gold and mother-of-pearl floral decoration. The gilt brass singing bird cover chased with cherubs releasing birds from a cage. Singing bird movement: rectangular plates with going barrel and rectangular bellow, the bird with moving wings and beak, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grill engraved with foliage. Gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute and chronograph ring, sunk subsidiary seconds and minute registers. Blued steel "spade" hands. Gilt bronze, "Anglaise Riche" with Corinthian columns, glazed top and hack door, Limoge type enamel side panels finely painted en grisaille over a black ground; on the left panel Cupid is holding on his hand a butterfly, representing Psyche who symbolizes the fragility of love and emotions; and on the right panel, he holds a flowery branch which is a subtle phallic symbol. D. Black enamel with red Roman numerals on white cartouches and centred with a gilt rosette with further enamelled decoration. Blued steel "fuseaux" hands, subsidiary small similar alarm setting dial. Frosted and gilt dial plate. M. Brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking trains, silvered platform with lateral lever escapement, uncut bimetallic balance, blued-steel flat balance spring.
