Almost certainly Italian, dated: Anno D 1668.Fine and extremely rare early table clock à cercle tournant, designed as a glazed pyramidal obelisk.

C. Rectangular gilt brass base standing on fourturned feet with fluted square column corners, four glazed side panels, chased with foliage and engraved with the Latin inscription: DOMINI IOANNISGAIGNE REGI A PRAEFECTI EX DONO CONS ILIIS IN AERARIO SVESSI. SVAE ET QYAESTORIS ET. It is surmounted by a glazed pyramid with gilt bronze flame finial, the mountings chased with foliage.D. Horizontal silvered ball shaped with Roman numerals, revolving within the pyramid with gilt bronze flame finial and blued steel pointer. M. Brass rectangular within the base, fusee with gut line, verge escapement, steel two-arm balance now fitted with a flat balance spring.Dated beneath the base: Anno D. 1668.Dim. 28 x 8,5 x 6 cm.

Gilt bronze square, the moulded side panels engraved with a series of arches, two corner arches pierced for the sound. D. Gilt bronze chapter ring with Roman numerals and touch pieces, the sunk centre engraved with a rosette. Gilt brass single hands centred with the alarm setting disc. M. Square brass full plate with column pillars, fusee with gut line, vergescapement with dumb-bell foliot, hog bristle regulator, large gilt brass irregular cock, pierced and engraved with strawberry flowers and foliage, secured by a screw.Dim. 84 x 85 x 41 mm
