?The Last Supper? Marcus Purmann, Munich. Made circa 1590. Very fine and very rare gilt brass case for a drum clock with integral sundial in the base, together with a gilt brass tambour- shaped watch case, made circa 1550.

The clock case:
Three-body, annular dial, inner chapter with Arabic 24-hour numerals, outer chapter with radial Roman numerals, each half calibrated from 1 ? 12, raised dot hour markers, the band cast and chased with herms and terms amongst scrolling foliage, three pierced scroll frets, the detachable base with circular pierced grille and engraved with a scene of the last supper and a foliate border, raised on three lion-paw feet, the interior engraved with a sundial calibrated for 48 degrees latitude. Case punch marked M.P. (for Marcus Purmann) below a fivepointed star. Dim. 112 x 66 mm.

The watch case:
Two-body, drum-shaped, ?fermée?-type, hinged top and fixed bottom, the front entirely chased and pierced for viewing the hours with 12 openings separated by balusters, the center with pierced and engraved decoration, pierced band with circular strapwork, the back decorated to match the cover. Diam. 55 mm.
