Three-body, "Empire", polished with reeded band. WATCH Gold, radial Roman numerals and engraved foliate decoration between, outer minute divisions two winding apertures, the center engraved with a scene of a riverside town and bridge with a steam train travelling across and a paddle steamer on the river. Blued steel hands. AUTOMATON Varicolored gold and finely painted on enamel with an automaton scene of a gentleman with a lady on a daybed in a sumptuous interior enjoying the pleasures of the flesh, activated via a cam when the music plays. Gilt brass double train movement with cylindrical pillars, going barrel and cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel end- piece, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant, regulator arm protruding from under the cuvette with engraved scale at the edge. Two-body, bassine, hinged, the bezel set with faceted red pastes, bands with foliate pierced and engraved sound frets, the back set with a domed polished agate panel within a faceted red paste border. Fixed gilt cuvette with sound holes and apertures for winding. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals. Gilt poire hands. Hinged gilt full plate, baluster pillars, fusee and chain for the going train, verge escapement, flat balance spring, foliate pierced and engraved cLock, silver regulation dial, striking train with going barrel, countwheel and bell in the fixed cuvette. JOHN MOTTRAM MUSICAL TABLE CLOCK FOR THE CHINESE MARKET ORMOLU John Mottram, London. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Very fine and extremely rare, George III, small, ormolu and paste-set, center-seconds, quarterstriking and musical table clock. Accompanied by a key.

Stepped square platform raised on four splayed feet, each side of the plinth applied with foliate scroll and flowerhead mounts flanking flowerhead bosses, all main panels engraved, the sides centred by silk-backed openwork foliate cast sound frets, each corner angle with a projecting scroll mount, the rear door pierced with an oval lattice-work sound fret, the arch- top surmounted by a double loop and vase finial and foliate mounts, the bezel set with alternating red and blue pastes, a spandrel in each corner further set with red, green, blue and white paste stones. White enamel, convex, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals. Brass heart hands, blued steel seconds hand adjusted by a knob beneath the dial. Rectangular plates with engraved border, chain and fusee for both trains, anchor escapement, brass bob pendulum, quarter-striking with two hammers on two of a nest of eight bells, the music playing via pinned barrel on the same eight bells with fourteen hammers, playing a tune selected by a square on the back plate, holdfast for the brass-rod pendulum. Movement signed.
