Notes

Property of the Original Asian Watch Collector

This beautiful and important limited edition of only 100 pieces was produced exclusively for Wempe. Inspired by A. Lange & Söhne’s historic marine chronometers and a renowned 1935 observation watch, this Langematik Gangreserve (reference 304.048 in 18k yellow gold) was created in 2005 to mark the 100th anniversary of Wempe’s Chronometre Manufacture in Glashütte. Never part of the regular Lange catalogue, it was available solely through Wempe boutiques worldwide.

Compared to other Langematik models — which typically feature a big date and asymmetrical layout — this example stands out with its perfectly symmetrical, marine-chronometer-inspired dial: black Roman numerals, railway minute track, power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and small seconds at 6 o’clock on a clean silver face. It is powered by the Sax-O-Mat calibre L921.6 with zero-reset seconds, visible through the exhibition caseback.

Extremely rare, with fewer than a handful appearing in the market , this 056/100 example dates from the original 2005–2006 production and includes its matching ship’s-chronometer-style presentation box. A refined fusion of Glashütte heritage, technical excellence, and understated elegance, it is a genuinely important and increasingly hard-to-find piece for serious Lange collectors.
