Notes

The scene depicted on the back of this watch is an allegory drawn from the Book of Daniel: While basing in a river, Susan was solicited by to old men, who upon her refusal, publicly accused her of having seduced them. She proved her innocence by her chastity. Caillate Abraham (1642-1710) originally a refugee from France, he appears to have specialised in gold and enamel watches.
