Notes

Industrial clocks
These timekeepers are so-called “industrial” clocks, due to the fact that their forms are inspired by the technology of their period: bicycle, automobile, locomotive, battleship, ships wheel Bollard, airplane, steam-hammer engine (with matching pair of candelabra designed as “Press Rollers”), hydraulic double-piston pump, printing-press, waterwheel and weather station, lighthouse, windmill with rotating sails, etc.
Their animation reproduces the real-life action of the objects they represent. Some of them were fitted with barometer, thermometer, etc.
They were mostly produced in France from the end of the 19th century until the First World War, using the classic Paris-type movement often produced by Japy in Beaucourt (Territoire de Belfort, France).
Guilmet, Antoine (1827-1892), Paris
Antoine-Romain Philéas Guilmet of Paris – an obsessive inventor who took out many patents for designs, both horological and others – produces another lighthouse clock model of roundshaped (H. 60 cm. / Ø 22 cm.), also with revolving light at the top
