ATTRIBUTED TO GRIESBAUM, SINGING BIRD BOX, GERMANY, GILT METAL AND ENAMEL

A fine and attractive gilt-metal singing bird box with painted enamel. It features a two-part rectangular case with engraved rounded corners and serpentine sides, decorated with rural alpine river scenes. The bird cover shows ladies among sheep, continuing onto the top panel. Inside, a rectangular brass barrel and bellows operate a revolving bird with moving wings and beak, controlled by two cams beneath the barrel wheel. The gilt brass grille is pierced and engraved with foliage.
