A very fine and interesting gold-mounted brown agate and silver gilt, manual wind Musical snuff box fitted with a quarter-repeating centre-seconds watch and independent automaton. Cartouche-shaped case, asymmetrically curved and carved from a single piece of brown agate, with moulded sides. Hinged lid applied with gold leaf garlands, stylised foliage and scrolling decoration. The top with a circular aperture for the dial, below an aperture revealing the automaton depicting a painted enamel scene of a lady and gentleman on a seesaw, animated, with another lady playing the harp, against a painted enamel background of a country house and garden. Gold mesh cord, terminated with a pearl, for activating the repeater at the right side; push-piece at the left for activating the music and automaton. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer minute/seconds divisions, blue champlevé enamel border. Blued steel spear hands.
