Notes

The Legendary Calibre 2003

Introduced in 1952, the Calibre 2003 remained the world’s thinnest hand-wound movement for nearly fifty years. Developed by Maurice Audemars at LeCoultre & Cie (later Jaeger-LeCoultre) under reference 803, it was reserved for Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe. At Audemars Piguet, it replaced the earlier Calibre 9ML, reflecting the post-war collaboration with LeCoultre & Cie, and by 1958 equipped nearly 75% of the manufacture’s watches. Produced in over 60,000 examples, the Calibre 2003 is celebrated as an icon of ultra-thin haute horlogerie.
