AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK JUMBO "A SERIES", NO. A1876 Audemars Piguet, ?Royal Oak Jumbo, Automatic?, No. A1876, movement No. 147740, case No. 99265, Ref. 5402ST. Made in 1974, sold in 1975. Very fine and rare, octagonal, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with date and a stainless steel Audemars Piguet bracelet with deployant clasp. Accompanied by an overhaul invoice from Audemars Piguet dated 2008 and an Audemars Piguet Certificate of Origin.

C. Two-body, polished and brushed, octagonal bezel set with 8 hexagonal nuts embanked in 8 screws on the case back, angled lugs with 4 screws to fi x the bracelet, sapphire crystal. D. Anthracite, ?tapisserie? decoration, applied luminous steel baton indexes, applied Audemars Piguet logo at 6, outer white minute divisions, aperture for the date. Luminous steel baton hands. M. Cal. 2121, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 36 jewels, straight line lever escapement, Gyromax balance adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, 21K gold rotor. Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 39 x 48 mm. Thickness 7 mm. Approx. overall length 180 mm.

This example of A-series has remained in excellent overall condition, exhibiting a strong case and defined bezel which tend to become well rounded when polished too often. Also prone to flaking, the early A-series dials often tend to exhibit medium to strong patina while this example has remained in mint condition
