Designed in 1971 by Gerald Genta and launched in 1972, the "Royal Oak" by Audemars Piguet is one of the most iconic model in the contemporary watchmaking industry.

This Ref. 25554, "Royal Oak" Perpetual Calendar, dates back to 1986 and is one of the very first perpetual calendar "Royal Oaks" to ever see the light of day.

These first-series Ref. 5554/25554 were introduced in 1983 and it is estimated that fewer than 300 of these watches were made in various metals.

These first-series models featured smooth metal dials instead of the initial "tapisserie" dial.

This is one of the most perfect synthesis made by Audemars Piguet between Gerald Genta's design and the lineage of beautiful and remarkable perpetual calendar wristwatches.
