Property of An Important Collector
The provenance of this timepiece adds another fascinating dimension to its story. The owner of this Reference 25592PT also purchased two Cartier watches in 1987—the same year this AP was registered. Remarkably, both Cartier pieces bear the case number 001,1987,(please refer to the same auction , lot 352 and 353). suggesting an owner with exceptional taste and access to truly special timepieces.
Antiquorum is particularly excited to have discovered this exceptional piece. With support from the Audemars Piguet manufacture, it has been confirmed this model was registered in AP’s records as of March 18, 1987, case in platinum and equipped with the Caliber 2120/2800_SQ movement. Production figures for the 25592PT remain unknown, enhancing this rare timepiece’s mystique
The Reference 25592PT is meticulously crafted in platinum and shares a close design relationship with the Reference 25670PT.
( possibly only 9 pieces were made). There are 4 differences we found.
- Firstly , the 25592PT features a notably larger case around the pusher region compared to 25670PT.
- Secondly, the 1987-produced 25592PT bears only one platinum hallmark, while the 1993-produced 25670PT bears three hallmarks.
- Thirdly, the 25592PT’s case back differs slightly from the 25670PT in terms of hand engraving forms, position, case number, and signature placement on the caseback.
- Finally and more obviously, the 25592PT showcases an earlier form of the Audemars Piguet signature, providing a visual cue to distinguish it from the 25670PT, which displays a more modern signature style.
Research suggests the Reference 25670PT was produced in extremely limited quantities—possibly just nine pieces in total. The 25592PT is considered an earlier production model and potentially even rarer than the already scarce 25670PT. Most notably, this particular example represents the first known appearance of a Reference 25592PT in the market and at auction, making it a true horological discovery.
During the 1980s and 1990s, perpetual calendar watches were the ultimate symbol of horological mastery, rare and reserved for elite collectors. The Audemars Piguet Reference 25592PT, produced during watchmaking’s recovery from the quartz crisis, stands out as a rare platinum perpetual calendar. Only registered in AP’s records, previously unknown in publications or online, this model is a remarkable discovery that exemplifies the art, craftsmanship, and exclusivity of top-tier Swiss watchmaking.
