Notes

The Audemars Piguet Reference 25723 stands out as one of the slimmest jumping hour and minute repeater wristwatch in today’s watch industry, making it a true grail for serious collectors.

Launched in 1992, it marked Audemars Piguet’s triumphant return to chiming wristwatches after the Quartz Crisis. Most significantly, the 25723 revives the brand’s 1920s tradition of slim chiming mechanisms and jumping hours by pairing a minute repeater with an instantaneous jumping-hour display — a highly complex and extremely difficult combination to miniaturize. Powered by the exceptionally thin manual-wind Calibre 2865 (developed with Renaud & Papi), it was the first modern AP wristwatch to successfully unite these two iconic complications in a wearable rectangular format.

This rare combination of minute repeater and jumping hour, together with extreme slimness (≈8–9 mm thick), is of great importance in haute horlogerie. In the entire watch industry, only a handful of brands have ever achieved it: Audemars Piguet (25723 family and Jules Audemars), A. Lange & Söhne (Zeitwerk Minute Repeater), Louis Vuitton (Escale), Gérald Genta, and Patek Philippe (Ref. 5275P chiming jump hour — not a full minute repeater). The AP 25723 remains the slimmest true minute repeater + jumping hour wristwatch produced to date.

Total production of the 25723 family is extremely limited — only approximately 208 to 257 examples across all variants and metals.

This particular watch is complete with its original fitted wooden box, original Certificate of Authenticity (dated 23 June 1993), and factory hang tag. Its elegant Art Deco-inspired case, refined jumping-hour aperture, and sonorous repeater make it a true collector’s grail.
