Notes

Designed in 1971 and launched in 1972, the Royal Oak is probably the most emblematic and sought after wristwatch of Audemars Piguet. This timeless model is known in many variations.

The ref. 25860ST is the first chronograph version of the Royal Oak created to celebrate the 25th birthday of the model. Launched in 1998, it was nicknamed by collectors “Kasparov”, after the famous Russian chess player, Garry Kasparov (born in 1963), who was Audemars Piguet ambassador since 1996. It remained in production until 2015.

The ref. 25860 was powered by Cal. 2385, a slim self-winding column wheel chronograph movement based on the Frédéric Piguet 1185.

The “E” serie was produced from 1998 to 2004. It has the particularity of having a Petite Tapisserie dial (small tapestry design) which can get patinated throughout time. Here, the color of the dial aged with a beautiful tropical patina. The irony is that what the manufacture considers as a defect, is a highly collectible features that increases the value of the watch on the auction market.
