Notes

In 1972, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak with a first batch of 1’000 watches called “serie A” due to the letter A engraved on their caseback. Two years later, additional series were produced under the ref. 5204 with the letter A, B, C and D. Indeed the design comes from the brilliant mind of Gerald Genta, but on this particular reference, the bracelet were made by Gay Frères. The watch comes with two bracelets and two dials featuring the same design so-called tapisserie, but the original dial is patinated and the other is a service dial (both relumed). The A-series Royal Oak is powered by the ultrathin AP caliber 2121, derived from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legendary ultra-thin JLC 920 calibre movement
