Caliber 47 mm., gilt Lépine calibre movement with standing barrel and special escapement. The impulse pallet, a tiny ruby mounted at the centre of the balance staff, is struck by the long teeth of the escape wheel to maintain the watch’s motion. Plain three-arm steel balance with blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature-compensation curb. All-or-nothing repeating mechanism with two hammers striking on the side of the case, activated by depressing the pendant.

Diameter 54 mm.

Notes

Jacques-Charles Dupont de l’Eure (1767–1855) was a French jurist and statesman from the Eure department in Normandy. He began his career as a lawyer at the Parliament of Normandy during the early years of the French Revolution and took part in the country’s political life through its many revolutionary and post-revolutionary changes. In 1848, he became President of the Provisional Governmentof the Second French Republic after the fall of the July Monarchy. A moderate republican, he is remembered as a symbol of justice and balance in a turbulent era.
