18K yellow gold and enamel, hunting-case, keyless-winding, roundshaped, pocket watch, hinged case-back and cover, subsidiary seconds at 6 and seven horological complications: 1/5 second chronograph (activated by the rectangular push-piece located on the case-band at 12 o'clock) Half-instantaneous perpetual calendar Date of the month (subsidiary dial at 3 o'clock) Day of the week (subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock; indications given in French Month of the year (subsidiary dial at 12 o'clock; indications given in French) Age and phases of the moon (subsidiary dial, graduated from 0 to 29 1/2, and aperture at 6 o'clock) Four-year cycle of leap-years (subsidiary dial at 12 o'clock) Cover and case-back engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with vermicelli motif. Bernard Poitevin, Paris and Geneva Bernard Poitevin was a renowned watch- and chronometer maker in Paris, who was active from circa 1850 to circa 1890. He produced high quality watches with horological complications, such as striking mechanisms, chronographs and chronometers, some of them received a Bulletin de Marche of 1st class from the astronomical observatory of Geneva. His successor, from 1880, was Rizzoli-Dechamps.
