A very fine and rare, 18k gold, manual wind open-face, key-winding pocket watch. Case by master casemaker Joly, with polished bezel, engine-turned flat band, and back decorated with grains d’orge pattern. Hinged gilded cuvette. Gold engine-turned dial with radial Roman numerals and outer dot minute divisions. Blued steel Breguet hands. Quarter-repeater striking on two steel gongs by means of two hammers, activated by a pull-and-twist piston in the pendant. Ruby-set cylinder escapement, top pivot fitted with parachute shock protection.

Caliber 48 mm., 7 jeweles, matte gilt movement with standing barrel, English-type ruby cylinder escapement; escape wheel and balance wheel with jewelled pivots. Three-arm balance with parachute suspension on the upper pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, and blued steel index regulator with bimetallic compensation curb. Repeating on two gongs with two polished steel hammers, activated by a pull-and-twist piston in the pendant.
