Notes

François Boucher’s (1703-1770) paintings of Venus and Cupid, conceived as quintessential Rococo scenes of gallantry, portray the goddess of beauty in sensual and radiant poses, often accompanied by the playful figure of Cupid. These compositions celebrate pleasure, grace, and femininity, rendered through delicate draperies, luminous pastel tones, and an atmosphere of refined intimacy.
