Silver, eccentric, champlevé radial Roman numerals on brushed chapter ring, outer dot minute divisions, engine-turned center and outer border. Gold Breguet hands. M. 31 mm., gilt brass, hanging barrel, ruby cylinder escapement, gold three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, jeweled balance and escape wheel, pare-chute on the top balance wheel pivot, blued steel ?anchor? regulator. Lord Grantham a ?nobleman of great wealth and fine temper?, he was a collector, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and, towards the end of his life, President of the Society of Architects. In 1803?4 he spent over £3,000 with Garrard?s.
