"Quarter Striking Mantel Clock" Breguet, No. 2984. Made circa 1880. Fine and very rare, mahogany and mulberry veneered, eight day going, quarterstriking and quarter-repeating carriage clock with alarm.

Rectangular, veneered with slightly extended base, panels of mulberry veneer, edges of mahogany veneer, back panel sliding vertically to reveal the movement, gilt brass bezel with a star pattern, gilt button for repeating on the top panel, gilt brass conical bun feet. D. Silvered, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, center and outermost engineturned. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular, 98 x 75 mm, brass, going barrels, platform with lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, rack striking on two gongs, white enamel alarm setting disc, strike/silent lever. Dial and movement signed and numbered. Dim. 18 x 13.2 x 98 cm.
