Breguet et Fils, No. 3011 / 2110, sold to Sultan Beykan in June 1818 for 4000 francs.Very fine and rare, large, 20 ct. gold and enamel 'cabriolet' quarter repeating watch with a special escapement, made for the Islamic market. Accompanied by the Breguet certificate No. 3781, delivered in December 1982.
C. By Joly. Outer: two-body, the back in red translucent champlev? enamel over barleycorn engine-turning, with opaque pink enamel and gold work including laurel wreaths and crowns of bay leaves. Inner: four-body, similarly decorated, but with an opaque blue enamel cusped hexagon in the centre, surrounded by gold foliate and palm leaf decoration, gold hinged cuvette. D. By Lucard. White enamel with Turkish numerals, outer minute ring with Turkish 15-minute marks, small gold eight-pointed compassose in the centre, secured by a screw. Double secret signature under the 12, one in Arabic, the other in French. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 43.5 mm o, gilt brass bridges, 6 jewels, free-standing barrel with Breguet continuous stop-work, ruby cylinder escapement, top pivot with a pare-chute, cut-bimetallic compensation regulator, repeating on two gongs with two hammers activated by pull-and-twist piston in the pendant.Signed on the cuvette and the dial, case stamped with serial number, casemaker's mark and French quality marks for 20 ct..Diam. 60 mm.
