Breguet à Paris, No. 30689, Swiss, circa 1830.Very fine and rare 20 ct. gold and enamel watch with a special escapement, made for the Islamic market.
C. Four-body, scalloped edge, entirely painted on enamel, on centre back a map of the Ottoman Empire of the period with Turkish characters, on the outer and the bezel, a translucent green enamel border over engine-turning decorated with flowers painted en grisaille. Gold hinged engine-turned cuvette, pendant and bow with champlevé enamel, engine-turned cuvette. D. White, enamel, Turkish numerals, 'secret' signature under 12. Gold Breguet hands. M. 39.5 mm o, gilt brass bridge calibre, 10 jewels,ruby duplex escapement, steel escape wheel, gold three-arm balance, blued-steel, flat balance spring.Signed on the cuvette and on the dial.Diam. 47 mm.
