Leroy, Elève de Breguet, Swiss, No 5026, made for the Islamic market, circa 1830. Very fine 18 ct. gold and enamel quarter repeating watch.
Four body massive case, giIt with scrolls and flowers over a pink champlevé enamelled background, the back centered with a very fine painted fluvial landscape with two sailing boats. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Turkish numerals (hair cracks). Blued steel Breguet hands. GiIt brass bar movement with a going barrel, cylinder escapement with a plain gold three armed balance, Breguet parachute suspension and bimetallic compensation curb. Repeating on gongs by means of a lockable piston sliding through the pendant. Signed on the dial and the cuvette. In good condition. Diam. 49 mm. Leroy was the agent for Breguet in Constantinople. This watch is very similar to those made by Breguet for the Turkish market.
