Notes

Founded in 1775, Montres Breguet SA is today at the pinnacle of Swiss luxury watch brands. Its unique position in watch history and European culture originated in the historical luminaries who wore Breguet watches (Napoléon, Marie-Antoinette, Churchill?) and in famous writers who mentioned Breguet in their works, like Pushkin, Balzac, Victor Hugo. If Breguet holds a special place in our cultural heritage, it is because its founder A.-L. Breguet set the standard by which all fine watch making has since been judged. Today, his heirs at Breguet still make each watch as a model of supreme horological art. Considered by his equals as the father of the greatest revolution in the science of time-keeping, Breguet invented a series of breakthroughs : self-winding watches, gong springs, Breguet spiral, tourbillon, shock-protection devices, etc. Today?s Classique line is the symbol of Breguet?s unmistakable style and elegance. With fluted case-bands, rounded horns, Breguet hands and enamel dials with Breguet Arabic numerals, the Classique watches are true to the traditional values of Breguet?s original features. Inspired from the Breguet pocket watch No. 2170, sold in 1929, the new limited edition Breguet 5947BA/29/9V6 presents a split-second chronograph with a special tachometric scale. This scale enables to measure the speed of a moving body on an established distance.
