Notes

Ref. 3970 and 3971 (the following two lots)When Patek Philippe first launched this new series of watches in 1986, Ref. 3970 was the model bearing a metallic snap-on back while Ref. 3971 was equipped with a screwed-down sapphire back. Very quickly, the reference number of this model was standardized to Ref. 3970, and was offered with a choice of either one or two screwed-down backs; one of these backs could be a screwed-down metallic back, while the second, (optional), a sapphire crystal back. Consequently, very few watches bear the Ref.971.
