A Monsieur Niedheidt Watch No. 1070, sold on 24 November 1980, for the sum of 280,000 francs. Gold and diamond skeletonised carillon keyless astronomical watch with "grande sonnerie" striking, minute-repeating, perpetual calendar and phase of the moon. Original Breguet green leather fitted case with calendar setting pin in gold and sapphire.
Case: 18 ct., massive, three piece, variée form,
glazed back and front with reeded band, the
winding crown set with a cabochon sapphire, the
bow engraved with the signature: "Breguet, No.
1070".
Dial: Skeletonised, the hour marks set with
diamonds, and subsidiary dials in gold for week
days, months of the four year bissextile cycle, the
date, and subsidiary seconds with aperture for
phase of the moon on a disc of lapis lazuli signed:
"Breguet". Gold Breguet hands set with
diamonds.
Movement: Gilt brass, 20"', entirely engraved
with elaborate foliate scroll work, two-train with
differential winding, 44 jewels, straight line lever
escapement with cut bimetallic balance. Bluedsteel
Breguet balance spring with swan-neck
micrometer regulator. Grande Sonnerie carillon
striking on three gongs with three hammers, the
strike/ silent setting bolt in the band, the
minute-repeating released by depressing the
crown.
