Mugnier (pupil of Breguet) Hger. de S. M. L'Empereur et Roi, N .1740, circa 1820. Elegant 18-carat gold quarter repeating calendar watch with half hour jumping hand and unusual striking train.
Four body massive engine-turned case made by Tavernier (master mark). Gold cuvette. Silver engine-turned dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary off set seconds and symetrical small calendar ring. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. Gilt brass bar movement, very similar caliber to that used by Breguet with going barrel, 12 jewels, Breguet ruby cylinder escapement with plain brass three armed balance, Breguet parachute suspension, original bimetallic compensation curb. Repeating on two gongs with a single hammer by means of a locking pump on the pendant. The hammer hits an intermediary steel piece moving up and down in order to strike on the upper or the lower gong. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm.
