Abraham Louis Breguet A Paris, No. 253, entered into register on July 4, 1787. Fine and very interesting silver and gold dumb quarter-repeating watch with date.

C. Two-body, by Joly, No. 231, hinges, lips, edge of the bezel, pendant and bow in gold, polished. D. White enamel, gilt Breguet numerals, gilt outer minute divisions, inner 31-day date ring, winding aperture at 2 o?clock. Blued steel, Breguet hands. M. 45 mm. (18???), gilt brass full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass tree-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock, repeating on silver blocks fixed to the case by depressing the pendant. Signed on dial, edge of the dial plate and movement, case stamped with casemaker?s master mark. Diam. 52 mm.

Rare example of early Breguet, during the period of his partnership with Gide, lasting from 1787 to July 1793. Only 295 watches were sold during that time. Often, they were Swiss ebauches finished by Breguet with his dials and cases, like in this example.
