Sold to Madame Cottin on September 28th, 1915 for 1500 Francs. Very fine and very rare, gilt brass, 8-day going, grande and petite sonnerie striking carriage clock with quarter repeating and alarm. Accompanied by the very fine, numbered, original gold tooled red morocco leather fitted Breguet box, numbered key and attestation. To be sold without reserve

C. Gilt brass, multi-piece, "Empire genre ancien Breguet", glazed on four sides and the top, four fl uted Corinthian type pilasters, two on each corner, with anthemion and fl ower-head chased entablatures and bases, hinged back door for access to the movement, engine-turned top with glazed oval center, pivoted handle with lion's head terminals, four ball fi nials, repeat button, the base with grande sonnerie/silence/quarters selection lever, four reeded bun feet. D. Silver with champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute dot divisions, subsidiary alarm setting dial below, engine-turned center, gilt brass engineturned dial plate. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular, 85 x 60 mm, gilt brass, spring barrels for the going and striking trains, lateral lever escapement set on a platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, striking the hours and quarters with two hammers on two gongs, repeating activated by depressing the push-piece at the top of the case, separate alarm train with its own hammer. Dial and movement signed and numbered. Dim. Height 13.9 cm (without handle) width 9.2 cm, depth 7.6 cm.

The case and outer fi tted box of this fi ne grande and petite sonnerie carriage clock is made in the manner of the carriage clocks made during Breguet?s lifetime and is therefore particularly handsome in appearance. An identical clock with the preceding number 2413, was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, March 16th, 2008, lot 619.
