MARGAINE FOR BREGUET - PETITE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK Margaine, Paris, retailed by Breguet, No. 1754. Made circa 1880. Fine and rare, gilt-brass, Petite Sonnerie, 8-day going carriage clock with repeat and alarm.

Multi-piece, gilt-brass, 'gorge', glazed sides and top, hinged handle, petite sonnerie/silence lever in the base. Circular white enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, alarm setting dial below, matte gilt mask. Blued steel Breguet hands. Rectangular, gilt brass, four pillars, barrels for the going and striking trains, lateral lever escapement mounted on a frosted gilt platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on two coiled gongs, separate alarm train. Dial and movement signed Breguet, movement also punched with Margaine's trademark.
