Breguet et Fils, Swiss, No. 302, circa 1815.Very fine and rare large musical quarter-repeating watch playing every hour or on demand.

C.Four-body, twisted wire band, back engine-turned in a sunray pattern, gold bolt at 7:30, at 1 o'clock for blocking activation of the repeater, lever at 9 o'clock for music/silence, brass cuvette. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel Breguet hands with polished steel ink pen tips. M. 53.8 mm., frosted gilt, cylinder escapement, three-arm gold balance with flat balance spring, pinned disc sur plateau musical movement with 25 tuned teeth working on both sides ofthe disc, unusual stop-work on the music barrel stopping the musical train when wound down.Signed on the dial and cuvette, case punched with Neuchâtel gold marks, movement punched "HB".Diam. 62 mm.

Notes

An unusual watch, with its special hands, unusual musical stop mechanism and case band. The restoration of the watch was the diploma project at the La Chaux-de-Fonds horological school, and the 63-page restoration report written at the time accompanies the watch.
