The SpringBreguet, No. 4537, circa 1880.Very fine gilt bronze Grande et Petite Sonnerie carriage clock with quarter-repeating and alarm and side panels painted on enamel in the Limoges style, in a later Le Roy & Fils fitted box.

On four fluted columns, slightly molded base and cornice, side panels finely painted on enamel over a black ground, depicting a young girl with butterfly wings playing a triangle on the left panel and a small tambourine on the right one, hinged fluted handle, tapered feet. D. Black enamel, white radial Roman numerals, outer gold minute divisions, subsidiary alarm-setting dial below 6 o'clock, polychrome scrolling, flowers and two birds. Gilt "fleur-de-lis" hands. M. Rectangular, 100 x 67 mm.double barrel, platform with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, repeating and striking by two hammers on two gongs, switch lever from grande to petite sonnerie striking in the base, alarm on one of the gongs.Signed on the movement, front of the case with dedication dated 1884, box signed by the retailer.Dim. Height 19 cm., width 12 cm.
