Breguet, No. 2984, circa 1870. Fine and very rare mahogany and burelm, eight day going quarter- striking and quarter-repeating carriage clock with alarm.
C. rectangular, veneered with slightly extended base, panels of burr elm, edges of mahogany, back panel sliding vertically to reveal the movement, gilt brass bezel with a star pattern, gilt button for repeating on the top panel, gilt brass bun conical feet.D. silvered, champlevé Roman numerals, outer minute dot divisions, center and outermost engine-turned. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular, 98 x 75 mm, brass, going barrels,platform with lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, rack striking on a gong, alarm with its own gong, back fitted with winding and setting arbors and striking/silent lever.Signed and numbered on dial and movement.Dim. 18.5 x 13.2 cm.
