Exceptional Horological Sale Celebrat...
Hotel Noga Hilton, Geneva, Apr 24, 2004
An exceptional letter from Antide Janvier (1751-1835) to Abraham Louis Breguet, dated October 1810, in which Janvier thanks Breguet for services rendered. Mention is made of a watch with one hand and Janvier?s desire to apply the idea to public clocks. Janvier finishes on a somewhat bitter note, mentioning an old quarrel with Berthoud, whom he accused of having mutilitated a memoir he had written, which Berthoud had freely edited and published in his "Histoire de la mesure du temps". This unique document links three great watchmaking geniuses of the period: Berthoud, Janvier and Breguet.
