"Timor Domini Initium Sapientioe" Breguet, Paris, Etablissement Mixte, No. 2422, case No. 320/4192. Made in 1853, sold to Mme Veuve Sauvage on December 14, 1853, for 1,200 francs. Very fine and rare 18K gold two train, quarter-repeating pocket watch with independent jump center seconds. Accompanied by Breguet certificate and original Breguet box.
C. Four-body, polished bezel, reeded band, engine turned back. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with Christ on thecross, seconds stop-slide in the band. D. White enamel, signed on the reverse "Droz", radial Roman numerals,outer minute ring, inscribed with the motto "Timor Domini Initium Sapientioe". Blued steel Breguet hands.M. 42 mm., frosted gilt, two spring barrels, 36 jewels, elongated counterpoised lateral lever escapement with steelescape wheel, cut bimetallic compensation balance, index regulator, repeating on two gongs activated by a slidein the band.Dial and case signed.Diam. 47 mm.
