Creating chronographs since 1915, Breitling is mainly known for the “Navitimer” whose dial might appear as a mystery for the uninitiated. The watch has become a symbol of the conquest of the sky. It is one of the most iconic pilot’s wristwatch mostly because it was chosen as the official watch for the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association).

Born in 1952, the “Navitmer” has undergone many changes. The famous 24-hour dial version, so-called the “Cosmonaute”, appeared in the early-1960s.

The Ref. 7806 was launched in 1972. It is recognisable to the double plane logo “Twin Jet” and because it was the first “Navitimer” featuring a date between 4 and 5 o’clock. The movement is a calibre Valjoux 7740 which was an adaptation of the famous calibre 11: it has taken over the Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module but on a manual-winding movement (from Ebauche SA).
